Have you ever heard of Quinamanukan Island?
Quinamanukan Island, located in Camarines Norte, is a stunning island getaway known for its pristine beaches, crystal-clear waters, and lush tropical surroundings. A perfect haven for relaxation and nature lovers.
With calm seas and favorable weather, the trip from Vinzons to Quinamanukan Island takes between 30 to 45 minutes. But the sea met us with enormous waves that seemed ready to sweep our little outrigger ship off the face of the earth. It briefly brought back memories of our first trip to Calaguas Island.

I couldn't take the risk of crossing those dangerous seas that day, even though brave people traveled with us. A strong warning from Mother Nature to stay closer to the coast was given. A crystal-clear reminder that no place is worth a life.
Still manage to smile even though we've faced so many big waves
After battling against enormous waves for over an hour, the bow finally made contact with dry land, which was Quinamanukan Island's western coasts. There aren't many detailed explanations available online, except for the obvious root word "manok," which means "chicken" in English. Quinamanukan, or "Chicken Island," is the result of this. Since the question was still unanswered, I turned to Google Maps and, in essence, discovered the reason why: from an aerial perspective, the island looks like a chicken's head with the beak on its western tip. I'd be happy to know if there are any other explanations, but I believe that's about it.
Enjoying the white sand with so many beautiful shells
Quinamanukan Island is a great place for tourists looking for a less-traveled route than Calaguas Island, despite having less white sands and a less well-known name. During your vacation, you might have the entire island to yourself, allowing you to take in Mother Nature's beauty and tranquility. Finding Quinamanukan Island by chance was, in my opinion, a blessing in disguise rather than a bad luck.
